Sunday November 23, 2014 at 1528 hours, the Huntingtown VFD Assistant Chief (Morris), Rescue Squad (Lt Cox) & Ambulance 68 (Lanier, M), along with units from the Prince Frederick VFD & Prince Frederick VRS, were alerted for the serious auto accident with a reported overturned dump truck at Route 4 & Traskers Blvd. First arriving units found a dump truck & 2 vehicles involved. A total of 4 patients were involved (a pediatric included) with one unconscious person trapped. While Rescue Squad 2 went to work removing the vehicle's doors, Rescue Squad 6's crew used the "O" cutters to cut the posts for a complete roof removal. Once complete, both Squad crews utilized the Rams for a dash-roll, freeing the patient’s legs and then assisted with removing the trapped driver. Both Squad crews worked together in removing all 4 doors & roof, rolling the dash and extricating the patient in less than 15 minutes. 2 patients were flown to local trauma centers & 2 patients were ground-transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital; one patient via Ambulance 68. Units from the Huntingtown VFD operated on the scene for 35 minutes, clearing at 1604 hours.
10 minutes after crews were alerted for the above incident, a 3rd crew on Ambulance 69 (Gaylor) responded on a medical local at Huntingtown High School. 15 minutes later, a 4th & 5th crew responded to a brush fire threatening a residence in Dunkirk bringing the Fire Chief (Spriggs), Engine 62 (Capt. Riffe) & Tanker 6 (Morgal).
