It is with great excitement and anticipation to be contacting you regarding the 2015 World Police & Fire Games, being hosted in Fairfax County, Virginia next summer between June 26, and July 5, 2015. It is one of the largest multi-sport, multi-venue events in the world; it is larger than the Summer Olympics. It draws more than 12,000 athletes representing 70 countries competing in 1,600 medal events across 61 sports venues located across the entire National Capital Region in over a 10-day period.
We would like to ask you for your support in getting the word out to your officers active and retired about the Games. There are NO qualifying events to participate in a sporting event. I have included a flyer listing the 61 different sporting events; some of the specific police related sporting events are pistol action, pistol combat, motorcycle street, rifle large bore and small bore, police service dogs and honor guard. I also included a flyer with additional information on how to qualify and participate as an athlete.
I have attached a link to a short video about the Games, if you are able to post it on a newsletter or web page it would be very helpful in educating your officers about this exciting event being hosted in Fairfax County, Virginia next year.
