December 30, 2016
At 0251 hours Engine Companies 1, 7, 9, 5, Truck companies 1, 7 and Rescue Squad 5 were alerted 41430 Challedon Way in Leonardtown, for the reported house fire. Engine 72, Truck 7, and Chief 7B responded shortly after dispatch with 11 Volunteers on the run.
Upon the arrival of Chief 1, heavy fire conditions were found on the first and second floors. Engine 10 arrived first, took their own hydrant and deployed a primary attack line to Division 1. Engine 72 arrived next, picked up a secondary hydrant, and ran the 350 foot attack line to side Charlie where the crew assisted with fire attack.
Truck 7 arrived and assumed 2nd due Truck Company responsibilities, and positioned on side C. The truck crew threw ground ladders and assisted with setting up ladder pipe operations. Ladder pipe operations were conducted for 1-2 minutes, to knock the bulk of the fire on division 2. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked, crews again made entry into the structure to to complete the fire attack.
Units continued to operate for several hours, hitting hot spots, and moping up. Engine 72 and Truck 7 returned to quarters at 05:12.
