When a Waldorf home caught fire Thursday morning, a young woman jumped to safety.
A fire broke out in the basement of a split foyer home in the 900 block of Copley Avenue around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
Jeff Duer, spokesman for the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department Company 3, said firefighters responded within minutes of the call.
Prior to the fire department's arrival, Duer said a 21-year-old woman who was reported trapped in the home had jumped out of the second-story window.
The young woman was transported to Civista Medical Center in La Plata with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Duer said it took firefighters about 10 minutes to control the fire, which was reportedly accidental.
No other injuries were reported.
