At 05:03 hours Bay District Stations 3 & 9 and area departments were alerted to a report of a working structure fire on Mary Lynn Drive in the Forest Park Subdivision in Lexington Park. Units from both stations immediately responded. Engine 32 was first arriving and reported a single-family home with heavy fire showing on side alpha coming from the attached garage. All of the residents of the home safely escaped after being alerted by their smoke alarms Engine 32 took attack group operations and stretched a line into the structure from side alpha. Engine 132 (NDW Pax River FD) arrived second to the structure and assisted Engine 32 with the attack group operations. Chief 3 (Robert Wahrenbrock) arrived soon after and assumed command of the incident. All incidents that Bay District (and all fire departments) respond to affect the members of the department that respond to the emergency, but this incident was slightly different for our members. This house involved belonged to one of our members which made it a little more personal for us. The members of Bay District have started a GoFundMe account which will directly benefit the family to attempt to get some of the items needed that were destroyed by the fire (Link Below). Anything you could contribute to help the family is appreciated. You can also make donations to the family directly to Bay District VFD by sending a check/money order or by using our “PayPal Donation” link on the left side of the webpage. Please indicate in the notes the donation is for the Mary Lynn Drive fire. |
