On July 16th at approximately 0251 hours, Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding departments were alerted to the 7000 block of Leonardtown Road for the barn fire. Engine Tanker 2, Tanker 2 and Chief 2 responded. Units arrived on scene to find an approximately 400x200 horse stable with fire throughout. A defensive fire attack was utilized until a ladder pipe operation could be established. Two ladder trucks were utilized to extinguish the fire.

In all 11 tankers were utilized to keep a continuous supply of water for the fire ground. During the operation Leonardtown Road was closed.

Units operated on scene for approximately four and a half hours before clearing.
