This week, from May 18 through May 24, communities across the country are celebrating National EMS Week 2025, a time to honor the extraordinary dedication of Emergency Medical Services professionals who serve with compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment.
The theme for this year’s EMS Week is “We Care. For Everyone.” — a powerful reminder of the inclusive, community-centered mission of EMS providers. No matter the time, place, or circumstance, EMTs, paramedics, and other first responders stand ready to care for anyone in need.
Here in our community, EMS personnel respond to hundreds of calls each year, delivering critical care at the scene of emergencies, during patient transport, and through public health and safety outreach. Their work connects people with life-saving services and support when it matters most.
“EMS teams don’t just respond to emergencies — they bring care, comfort, and hope to people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives,” a department spokesperson shared. “They exemplify what it means to serve with compassion and professionalism.”
Throughout EMS Week, the department is hosting a variety of events, including community outreach, school visits, and health education sessions. These efforts help raise awareness about the essential role of EMS and encourage residents to get involved in emergency preparedness.
Residents are encouraged to show their appreciation by learning CPR, keeping emergency contact information up to date, and ensuring that house numbers are clearly visible from the street. Small actions can make a big difference when seconds count.
This EMS Week, let’s take the time to recognize and thank the dedicated professionals who care for everyone — every day, in every situation.
Fire Prevention Tip: Clearly post your house number on your home and mailbox to help first responders find you quickly in an emergency.
