May 25, 2015
On Monday afternoon at 1332 hours, Station 2, Station 5, EMS 29, 59 and 19 were alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident on Budds Creek Road near Maddox Road. While responding, the location was updated to Budds Creek Road in the area of Horseshoe Road in Company 5's area. Company 1 was also added to the call. Medic 4 and Chief 5 arrived on the scene locating two vehicles in the road with one trapped.
Chief 5 established the command and after Medic 4 did an assessment, a helicopter was requested. Squad 5 arrived and the crew began extrication on the pickup truck. The squad crew quickly popped the door and removed the patient. Squad 2's crew proceeded to the scene and assisted. Engine 52 checked for a landing site south of the scene but with no open areas available they proceeded to the scene and Rescue Engine 22 handled the landing site.
After a consult, the patient with Ambulance 598 also needed to be flown. Trooper 6 was contacted and was able to take both patients. Both Ambulance 199 and 598 transported to the landing site just north of the accident scene. Both patients were flown to PG Trauma Center by Trooper 6.
Squad 5 remained on the scene and assisted the Sheriff's Office. All other units were placed in service. Once the helicopter left the scene command was terminated.
