At approximately 1324 hrs local volunteers in both St. Mary's and Calvert were alerted to a serious MVA on Rt 4 just south of Patuxent Beach Road. Promptly the Solomon's Volunteers responded with the engine company and ambulance as well as Chief 3 responded to the scene. Initial units arrived to find a 2 vehicle head-on accident with heavy entrapment. Chief 3 established command to allow Hollywood Chief 7A to go to work as the extrication supervisor assisting Squad 3 and Squad 7. Crews worked ferociously to extricate the patient as Ambulance 38 stood by assisting other St Mary's EMS resources during extrication. Engine 31 secured a landing site on Route 4. Ambulance 38 transported 1 trauma patient to the LZ where they were transported to a local trauma center. All Solomon's units cleared at 1430 hrs.
