At 1310 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to the Maryland International Raceway located at 27861 Budds Creek Road for the motor vehicle accident on the track. Initial reports were of a race car into the wall, on fire with entrapment.
The track emergency response team arrived on scene initially and extinguished the fire. The operator was removed prior to the Squad arriving. Engine 73 was returning from a detail and in Charlotte Hall when the incident was dispatched. They responded on the call as well.
Units were advised the patient was a category "alpha", priority one and Trooper 7 was added to the call. Engine 73 handled the landing site on the track. The patient was flown to Prince George's General.
Track officials advised the car was traveling 198mph when it initially came in contact with the wall. It burst into flames and struck the wall a second time traveling another quarter mile before it stopped.
Information from social media sites advise the patient suffered a broken foot and burn injuries around the neck area.
