In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 8th, 2016, Company 49 (RVRS) was dispatched to the area of Point Lookout Road and College Drive for “injuries from a fall.” Upon arriving on the scene, the crew from Ambulance 499 found the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputies out with a male patient lying on the ground in the driveway of a nearby residence. From the relayed information, it appeared that the patient had been involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) which occurred further south of the patient’s location. Patient was treated accordingly and transported to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
During patient transport to the hospital, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputies worked in conjunction with Companies 4 (RVFD) and 14 (NDWFD) in an attempt to locate another possible patient from the accident. After searching the scene and surrounding areas, local tow trucks arrived to remove the vehicle. Extreme caution was taken to avoid guide wires and telephone poles. The vehicle was extracted and no additional patients were found. All units returned to service.
