Police Chase Turns to Servious MVA

At 12:44 units from Station 3 and surrounding departments were alerted for an auto accident involving a vehicle on fire, the accident was a result of a police chase. Units arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle accident confirming one vehicle on fire with a subject pinned. Upon arrival the police officers were keeping the fire in check by using fire extinguishers. Engine 32, Squad 3 and Engine 132 (NDWFD) all arrived on scene at the same time, Engine 32’s crew immediately began extinguishment while Squad 3 began extrication. Within five minutes of arrival the fire was contained the patient was extricated and handed over to awaiting EMS. EMS providers from the Lexington Park VRS and NDWFD began patient care and helicopters were requested for the patients form each of the cars (two patients total). Awaiting EMS units transported the patients to Great Mills High School to the landing zone where MSP Trooper 2 landed and was unable to continue their mission due to incoming weather. Both patients were ground transported trauma centers.

Units remained on scene for approximately an hour before returning to service.
