The Fire Prevention "Class" Awards are presented each year at the Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association convention, to a department that does the most by "Class" for Fire Prevention in their community.

The awards are for the department's effort and therefore, submission of the entry must be for the department, rather than an individual. The intent of these awards is to recognize the Fire Prevention activities performed by the department in their particular community.

There are two categories for the Fire Prevention Awards.

The first category is for a year round program in fire prevention.

The second category is for a special project related to fire prevention.

RULES

The recipient must be a member in good standing of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association.

Portfolios entered must be of the standard notebook/report size.

The first page must be on company letterhead, a protective cover is recommended.

The department shall forward complete detailed information on the work done by the department. Photographs and newspaper clippings must be dated and the source indicated.

The Letter of entry with "Class" (see classification table below) and related information must be submitted to the Awards Committee no later than last meeting March.

Dates of EMS activities shall cover the calendar year from January 1 through December 31.

The winner of the Roland B. Duke memorial award will be based on the best and most complete fire prevention entry of all "Class" submitted.
