The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is issuing an urgent warning to the public about a fraudulent website impersonating the organization and attempting to deceive supporters into making illegitimate donations.
The counterfeit website, operating under the domain fireheros.org, is a deceptive and unauthorized clone of the Foundation’s legitimate website, www.firehero.org (note: no “s” in the official domain). This phishing site unlawfully uses the NFFF’s name, logo, and copyrighted materials in an effort to collect cryptocurrency donations under false pretenses.
“This is a serious case of brand impersonation and phishing,” said NFFF representatives. “The fraudulent website exploits the goodwill of those who wish to support the families of America’s fallen firefighters. We are taking immediate action to protect our supporters and uphold the integrity of our mission.”
A formal takedown request has been submitted to the domain host to remove or suspend the fraudulent site. In the meantime, the Foundation is urging the public to exercise caution and verify any communication or donation request claiming to be from NFFF.
