| During the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association (SMVFA) dinner and meeting on November 24, held at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, Terri Van Asdlen was officially promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the SMVFA Honor Guard.
Terri received her promotion in front of fellow members, and leadership, with SMVFA Honor Guard Commander Steve Winkler presenting the new rank. Her promotion reflects dedicated service, professionalism, and commitment to upholding the Honor Guard’s mission of representing Southern Maryland’s fire and EMS personnel with dignity and respect at public events, memorial services, and ceremonial functions.
“Terri has shown outstanding dedication to the Honor Guard and continues to be a strong representative of our values,” said Commander Winkler. “Her promotion to Sergeant is well deserved.”
The SMVFA Honor Guard plays a vital role in honoring fallen firefighters, presenting colors at community events, and maintaining the traditions of the fire service across Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties.
