| On Saturday, the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) hosted its Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Banquet, recognizing the dedication, achievements, and outstanding service of its members over the past year. |
The evening’s program included the formal installation of the department’s 2026 Line and Executive Officers. Leading the department this year is Chief DJ Brady, joined by Assistant Chief Richard Brady and Deputy Chief Tyler Insley. The command staff also includes a team of experienced captains, lieutenants, sergeants, safety officers, and engineers who will oversee operations and ensure the department continues to provide top-tier emergency services to the community.

Several members were honored for their dedication and performance in 2025. Mike Sullivan received the President’s Award for his exceptional service and leadership. Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Jason Sullivan, recognizing his outstanding commitment to the department. The Chief’s Award was presented to both Calvin Joy and Billy Long, and Most Promising Firefighter was awarded to TJ Lundregan, acknowledging his growth and potential within the department.
Three members achieved Life Membership status in recognition of their long-standing dedication and contributions to the department: Brendan Abell, Michael Miedzinski, and Kenny Johnson.
Top responders and drivers were also recognized. Patrick Nelson led the department with 462 calls, followed by Jason Sullivan (425), and Anthony Gardiner (413). On the driving side, Mike Sullivan topped the list with 166 responses, with Glenn Thompson (93) and James “Noodles” Nelson (92) close behind.
“These individuals embody the spirit of volunteerism and community service,” said Chief DJ Brady. “Each member honored tonight plays a vital role in the department’s mission to protect lives and property. We’re grateful for their time, skill, and unwavering dedication.”
The Hollywood VFD remains a cornerstone of the community, responding to hundreds of emergency calls each year and providing vital support during times of need.
