By North Beach Volunteer Fire Department
October 20, 2026

On Monday, October 19, 2026, at 1555 hours, Calvert County Emergency Communications Center (CCECC) alerted Company 1 for a vehicle on fire in the 4000blk of 15th Street in Chesapeake Beach.

Engine 12 responded with a crew of four. They arrived to find a pick up truck with a trailer attached in the intersection of 15th Street and B Street well-involved. The radiant heat from the truck fire had also ignited a nearby utility pole and was melting the siding on a nearby occupied dwelling. A citizen was attempting to hold the fire in check with a garden hose but the intensity of the fire was exceeding the capacity of the garden hose stream.

The crew rapidly deployed a 1 1/2” attack line from the engine and initiated an attack on the fire. The officer requested that CCECC fill out the area box assignment due to the damage being done to the structure.

The fire was quickly controlled with Engine 12’s onboard water (750 gallons). The area box was cancelled and the incident was managed with units from Company 1. The truck was a total loss. Damage to the residence was limited to melted siding. There was no extension into the structure. Damage to the pole was reported to the utility companies. No damage to the contents of the trailer was reported. There were no injuries.” ”
